The 2024 Colour Trend Report For Garments

The 2024 Christmas Trend Report

September is here and Christmas 2024 is around the corner.

If you have no idea where to start with your heat printed Christmas range, don't worry we're here to help.

We've done all the colour research needed to build a retail-ready fashion-inspired Christmas collection for 2024.

Let's start with Pantone.

Who is Pantone?

Pantone is a company best known for its Pantone Matching System (PMS), a standardized colour-matching system used across various industries, including printing, graphic design, fashion, product design, and manufacturing. Because of its in-depth colour knowledge, Pantone is a great source of information when it comes to colour trend forecasting.

In this blog, we'll be referring to their London Fashion Week Colour Trend Report for Autumn/Winter 24-25 for colour inspiration.

Believe it or not, this information is not top secret. Pantone publishes their trend reports throughout the year, every year. So if you're ever stuck for inspiration, all you have to do is search!

So what are we doing in this blog?

Making you aware of the colours that will take flight throughout retail and fashion this autumn/winter period so that you can ensure that your product range is on trend and standing out from the crowd.

We have taken the 15 colours that Pantone has detailed in their article and broken them up into bite-sized chunks that are a little more digestible for a busy heat printer. We've created 5 different palettes that are easy to work with this winter and we've gone one step further by searching the UK's #1 blank apparel manufacturers for garments that fit in with that colour scheme - making building your Christmas collection even easier.

We'll be showing you the closest colours in the JustHoods JH001 hoodie range and the Bella+Canvas 3001 t-shirt range.

First up: Pantone's Almond Milk, Pureer Pumpkin, Misted Yellow

Otherwise known as Stone, Ginger or Light Mustard

Just Hoods JH001 Colours:

Stone, Ginger Biscuit, Mustard

Bella+Canvas 3001 Colours:

Soft Cream, Autumn, Mustard

Both JustHoods and Bella+Canvas are known to have extensive colour ranges which are both influenced by retail and this is extremely apparent in this particular comparison.

Aside from the neutral choice from Bella+Canvas being a touch warm when compared to Pantone's Almond Milk, the colour choices from all 3 brands match really well.

Next: Pantone's: Storm Front, Rain Forest and Dark Shadows

Otherwise known as: Steel Grey, Green and Charcoal

Just Hoods JH001 Colours:

Graphite Heather, Moss Green, Storm Grey

Bella+Canvas 3001 Colours:

Steel Blue, Forest, Asphalt.

Bearing in mind that any digital representation will never accurately convey the true colours of a garment, these combinations are not the worst match we've ever seen.

The Bella+Canvas Forest is much darker than Pantone's Rain Forest shade but it still fits really nicely with the other shades proving that you can create your own interpretation of any trend that hits the garment scene, and it still look really nice.

Next up: Pantone's Cherry Tomato, Sunburn and Eggplant.

You might be thinking, who on earth would pair a cherry tomato with such muted shades? But a pop of colour is a great way to create small accents within a design or a layout. The Cherry Tomato in itself is slightly muted when compared to a traditional red making it on theme for this years muted tones by Pantone/

This colour pairing proved more difficult to find garment matches than the previous colour combinations. While JustHoods have won the Eggplant section with the Wild Mulberry Hoodie, Bella+Canvas take the closest Sunburn match with their Terracotta 3001 t-shirt.

JustHoods JH001:

Soft Red, Caramel Latte & Wild Mulberry

Bella+Canvas 3001:

Poppy, Terracotta, Royal Purple

Next: Pantone's Iguana, Pine Cone, Sheep Skin.

This colour combination will not be a stranger to you. This is a classic earthy neutral pairing that will trend for an age. As you can see from the colour comparisons between Bella+Canvas and Just Hoods, not a single colour is a spot on match for the Pantone but all 9 shades look incredible together regardless. The range of light and dark neutrals in both Bella+Canvas and JustHoods collection is extensive. Bella+Canvas offer 14 different greens alone, so regardless of your preferred shade of this Pantone colour collection, we're confident you'll find a matching shade for your collection with these brands.

JustHoods JH001:

Earthy Green, Caramel Toffee, Nude

Bella+Canvas:

Olive, Terracotta, Sand Dune

Finally, we have Pantone's Startlight Blue, Wave Ride, Evening Blue.

Again, for this colour palette, you won't be short on shades from both Bella+Canvas and JustHoods. Both brands each have 16 different shades of blue for you to pair.

The closest shades to the Pantone selection that we found are:

JustHoods JH001:

Dusty Blue, Deep Sea Blue, Airforce Blue

Bella+Canvas 3001:

Light Blue, Ocean Blue, Lavender Blue

So how has this colour analysis prepped your garment buisiness for the Winter season?

You're walking away from this blog with five easy colour pallettes that you can use to inform your Autumn, Winter and even Christmas Collections. If retail inspired merch lines isn't within your business remit, then think about using some of these colours within your workwear offering. By offering clients samples that are inspired by fashion, you're offering them the chance to put employee comfort and style first.
