How to print Hi-Visibility PPE

Many of heat printers steer away from hi-vis garments due to their heat-sensitivity, but with the right equipment, hi-vis garments are super simple to print!

Because all 100% polyester garments react differently to heat, there is no 'one-size fits all' approach to printing but with the following tips, you will find a method that works for each garment.

1: Test, test, TEST! If you're new to printing hi-vis then you'll need to test a couple of garments out before knowing what you can offer the client. Once you've completed the testing successfully, you'll be fully equipped with a repertoire of hi-vis garments that you can offer anyone who enquires in the future.

2. Low temperature application. UltraColour Heat Transfers are the lowest temperature heat transfer on the market, applying at just 120 °C. This low application temperature makes them the perfect heat transfer choice for a heat-sensitive fabric like polyester.

3. A Grip Flex pad offers an extra barrier against your heat press platen if a low-temperature heat transfer isn't enough to avoid scorch marks.

4. Consider dye-migration. With heavily dyed fabrics, you may find that you need a specialist heat transfer to avoid the fabric colour showing through your heat transfer. UltraColour Subli-block offers an extra layer of protection against dye-migration.

5. Finally, make sure you're printing with a reliable heat press like a Hotronix heat press where you're able to accurately control your time, temperature and pressure.

Branded workwear for the Construction industry

Hi-vis PPE is not the only type of branded garment that the construction industry needs!

Because the spectrum of jobs available within the industry is so broad, you need to be able to offer items that cover both inside and outside roles.

An administrative assistant for a building firm might need a branded shirt and blazer, where as a landscape gardener would need a sweater and a waterproof jacket.

Pricing Your Branded Workwear

Workwear bundles are a great way to secure the sale of multiple garments per employee.

For example, If you're approaching a Plumbing business, why not price up a bundle of 5x polo tshirts, 1x sweater and 1x branded jacket as their workwear bundle.

1x YK001 Hi vis waistcoat costs £1.99

1x Pro RTX RX05F polo shirt in Navy costs £3.99. Making the blank cost of 5x £19.95.

1x Just Hoods JH030 sweater in Blue is £6.99

1x Regatta SN130 softshell jacket in Blue is £9.95

Your total blank garment cost per person in this bundle is £38.88 before VAT.

Because you'll likely be branding these garments with small left chest heat transfers, your heat transfer cost will be minimal meaning theres the potential for up to £50 profit per employee when a bundle is set up like this. By selling the bundle at £100, the employee is getting 8 pieces of workwear at an average cost of £12.50 each.
