1. Reduce the Fusing Temperature

If you are fusing onto a sensitive fabric, reducing the heat you're applying at can make all the difference. UltraColour Heat Transfers are made to apply at a low temperature of 120 degrees, so you can achieve simple or detailed designs without scorching your garment.

2. Heat from Underneath the Garment

Power Platens are designed to heat the garment and transfer from underneath, allowing you to reduce the temperature on the top platen, therefore reducing the chances of scorch marks on the top of the garment.

3. Isolate the Print Location

Using a specific lower heat press platen, you can isolate the print area you wish to fuse the transfer to. Reducing any marks from the seams, zips or pockets of the garment and allowing you a much more even pressure for application.

4. Add an Extra Layer of Protection

Grip Flex is a flexible rubber sheet (46x56cm) that is used in place of release paper to create a protective layer when fusing onto a garment with a Hotronix Heat Press.

Protects your garment, prevents the majority of scorch marks from the heat, allows you to fuse onto more delicate fabrics, protects your heat press, prevents dye from the garment from transferring onto your press, and keeps the garment stable.

5. Check your Pressure

If you've changed your lower platen or are fusing onto a thicker garment than usual, this can affect the pressure of the fuse. Ensure you're pressure is at a medium for heat transfer and HTV application (4-6 on Hotronix Presses) to avoid over pressurising and creating press marks on the garment.
