What issues might I encounter when printing a jacket?

First of all, achieving accurate pressure with a jacket can be a mission within it's self. Jackets have heavy duty zips and seams, and thats without touching on the inside and outside pockets. All of these things will disrupt the pressure readout when laid on a platen for printing. This is because the heat press takes its pressure reading from the thickest part of the garment. So if this is a zip or a seam, it means that your decoration will sit lower than this and not recieve the corrent time, temperature and pressure. In order to successfully apply a heat transfer to this type of garment, you must isolate your print space so there are no obstructions in the way.

Secondly, jackets are often made of heat sensitive fabrics such as polyester or have heat sensitive coatings like 600D or other waterproofing coatings that can actually melt if the temperature is too high. Finding a low temperature recipe decoration and a heat conscious method of application can be tricky, but it's not impossible.
